BUT THIS IS PRECISELY WHAT THE "I-WAS-AT-THE-SUPER-BOWL-AND-YOU-WEREN'T!!!!!" $2.3 MILLION-A-THIRTY CROWD WANTED!
And forget that $2.3 million gag. I'll say it again: factor in the super-expensive commercial production, and the marketing, and the costs of shipping CEOs to Houston for a mammoth exercise in one-upmanship, and I'll bet the total cost of a thirty comes to three or four times that. If I were a shareholder I'd be looking to scalp people. OR: [W]hat a sublime metaphor for the audience’s relationship with the current world of network advertising: a nagging wife hollering in a poor man’s ear, while he sits impassively, utterly tuned out.
