And in news increasingly expected over the last week we hear sadly that Boscov's has filed for bankruptcy. To its credit it tried to be the old-fashioned department store selling everything, but it, like the industry, built too many stores, for no good reason than to show big cities they could do without retailers, and because the suburbs were forever.

How apt too that the company is closing as many stores as it bought from Federated. Retailing often makes no sense along with its no cents.
