With some businesses you wonder that anyone gets into them -- like horse racing. A firm called
Magna Entertainment Corp., which owns
Pimlico among other tracks, "has lost $638 million since 2002." There's been talk of
the Preakness being moved from there. When we think horse racing we think broken-down men with cigars. We hope some semblance of the races can stay on, if only to remind us of what gambling was like before it became an industry, and because horses are such good and noble creatures, even when racing.
