TRAGEDY: The Akron Beacon Journal, the Arizona Republic, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Baltimore Sun, the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Contra Costa Times, the Dallas Morning News, the Dayton Daily News, the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Houston Chronicle, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Oakland Tribune, the Orange County Register, the Palm Beach Post, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the Providence Journal, the Sacramento Bee, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Jose Mercury News, the Seattle Times, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Tacoma News Tribune, the Tampa Tribune and the Worcester Telegram were unable to send their personal presences to witness some ball games between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Pity.

And thank you, Murray, for forcing us to look up the correct punctuations of five or six newspaper titles, which pretty well says all these treasured witnesses would have gotten them wrong anyway.
