What is this? Old Advisors' Home Week at the WaPost?
As I'm increasingly fed up with news hacks and bloggers, so I'm increasingly impatient with the whole damned Web. With overexposure to it you can reduce the world's concerns to seven story lines, much as with the output of Hollywood and the theatre; after a while you rue that you've said the same things on the same seven topics seven times seven times. Could the Web and its instant ennui-and-impatience making be at the heart of our miasmic distemper and the political tantrum throwing in general? And why can't the same exhaustion hit the Web and that has ruined the rest of our culture? It doesn't help my morale to get five hits a day either -- and those with effort.
