In its politics Hellywood is almost exactly like the news biz -- once run by hard-core Republican bosses like Louis B. Mayer, now run by "creative" types who are so conformist as to lead a producer to speak of a "new McCarthy era." But it suspends disbelief to think any unlikely sea change in show-biz' politics will do us good because on all sides the people running The World's Biggest Cultural Garbage Dump believe above everything in themselves; left-wing or right-wing it will still excrete torture-porns and grossout "comedies". And one suspects in the back of his calculating head a producer of genius like David Zucker would admit to that -- and perhaps make a few himself.
