A reason stories like this are egregious is that we know most people have no taste, or worse, they fall back on what other people with no taste can do. This is just a variant on those Titanic-is-the-worst-movie-ever stories hacks commission when they think they need to fill a space in their news hole. But pray tell, isn't the problem that the news hole is getting smaller, and we need more crusading reporting to fill it? So the hacks crusadingly tell us that most people have no taste. No, the problem with hacks is more than the Web and do-not-call laws.
