So I can get this out of the way: We note with the HSX listings we avoided movees that seemed nominally aimed at adults; the problem is so many of these are so very depressingly much the same: political thrillers, domestic dramas, films of social dysfunction. These are aimed at the Os-CARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRĀ®s and the cri-TICS, and most will lose money. There are too many "romantic" "comedies", and many of these can be counted on to bomb. There are also, needless to say, too many fillums with that sci-fi/fantasy hook. We found surprisingly few APATOWS but maybe we weren't looking. The problem is the money films almost to a one are sequels, remakes, and movees based on comic books, video games and TV shows -- and lots of CGIs. And too many titles are aimed at kids, chronologically or otherwise. There is no way the hacks like Mogul's Friend who spin these things can say this is anything but a disaster for their biz, although the biz has been more or less a disaster zone the last fifty years, and the makings were always there.
