And yet another hack cries in his beer. John "Nobel" Updike's "hit" is but this year's version of
Tom "Catch Phrase" Wolfe's "smash" of '04, which after a fast marketing-driven best-seller-list start is now remembered (if at all) as a winner of the Bad-Sex-in-Literature Award.
Marketing may overcome flacks, but it cannot overcome posterity.
